Systems Engineer

System Administration Responsibilities:

Provide UNIX/Linux systems administration services to internal and external customers, including development team.

Responsibilities include systems and equipment technology assessment, system performance analysis, system integration planning, specification development, test and evaluation, and system concept formulation/design/analysis, automation of repeatable daily activities.

Assist in the planning and development of new technology to improve performance and productivity, reduce IT costs and improve profitability.

  Preferable to have experience on Ansible and Docker

•         Works with little supervision with respect to scheduling and assignments of tasks with results and progress occasionally reviewed.

•         Quality of product releases

•         Extended outages

•         Backup Administration 

•         Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of development, test and production environments including backup and log management, system monitoring, and user management. 

•         Product reliability

•         Number of extended outages

Problem Resolution

•         Resolve issues working with cross-departmental teams; customer support, application developers, vendor IT contacts, network and database administrators.

•         Ensure user satisfaction by providing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution services.

Job Requirements

Knowledge/Skills Requirements

•         Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field

•         Minimum of one to three years experience in system administration involving implementation and support

•         Unix/Linux

•         Experience working with the following products:  Linux, VERITAS Netbackup, Veritas Cluster, VMware, Shell scripting, NetApp, Redhat Cluster.

•         Possess a general understanding of basic networking.

•         NFS/DNS/FTP troubleshooting and maintenance skills.

•         Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•         Must be able to work on-call and after hours for maintenance when needed.

•         Additional skills and knowledge of Ansible a plus.
